The big question: what is the Halloween candy of choice for consumers? A whopping 70% of shoppers say chocolates are their favorite Halloween candy to purchase! But some shoppers still love their candy corn, caramels, gummy candies, and more.
Shoppers are keeping it bite-sized this year, with 55% opting for fun-sized treats. Though, candy lovers should keep an eye out! A lucky 2% of trick-or-treaters might just score king-sized candy bars at some doors. Jackpot!
Ghostly Goodies: What Shoppers are Buying Other Than Candy
Contrary to popular belief, Halloween isn’t only about the candy! While 58% of shoppers are sticking with the sweet stuff, others are tossing in non-candy items for a fun twist.
Shoppers are also excited about the other fun products that accompany the ghoulish holiday, with 34% looking forward to decorations and 20% being pumped to purchase their costumes.
Boo-tiful Buying Habits: Shopping Habits for Halloween 2024
How early does spooky season really start? 35% of shoppers begin hunting for Halloween candy in early to mid October, followed by 24% who do their shopping a week before the holiday. Another 13% of shoppers like to wait for those sweet post-Halloween sales on their favorite candies!
To buy their favorite tricks and treats, 31% of shoppers are headed to Walmart, while 30% are haunting their local grocery store. Another 12% of shoppers are buying in bulk at their local club store. As for how much they're shelling out for those spooky snacks, nearly half of shoppers (48%) are spending between $10-$30.
And when it comes to picking out the perfect candy, price is the biggest deciding factor—though 15% say special deals and promotions have a wicked way of influencing them.
