Spring is in the air, and for many shoppers, that means it’s time to grab the cleaning supplies and give their home a seasonal refresh. In our latest shopper survey on spring cleaning habits, we surveyed shoppers on everything from their favorite cleaning products to their deep-cleaning habits. Scrub-a-Dub Data: Spring Cleaning Habits & Fun Facts
Not everyone feels the same way about cleaning—18% of shoppers actually enjoy it, calling it therapeutic, while 47% say it can be stressful or overwhelming at times. The rest (35%) don’t love it or hate it, they just see it as just another part of their routine.
How often are shoppers doing a basic tidy-up? 36% clean up a few things every day, 22% tidy up a couple of times a week, 15% do a weekly refresh, and 10% save cleaning for once a month. Deep cleaning, however, is a whole different game. 32% of shoppers only do a full deep clean once a year—hello, spring cleaning! Meanwhile, 33% tackle it every few months and 16% go for a once-a-month reset.
As for which spaces are getting the most TLC, bathrooms (31%) and kitchens (28%) top the list of priorities, while 18% say they treat all areas of their home equally when deep cleaning.
Squeaky Clean Selections: 2025 Shoppers’ Preferred Cleaning Products
The type of cleaning product that shoppers purchase most often is multi-surface cleaner (48%), followed by bathroom cleaners (15%) and disinfecting wipes (12%).
Natural and eco-friendly options are growing in popularity, with 9% of shoppers prioritizing green cleaning products. Additionally, when asked whether they stick with traditional cleaning products or opt for eco-friendly alternatives, 47% mostly use traditional cleaners, while 23% buy a mix of both. Another 22% say they prefer eco-friendly but will use traditional when needed.
Though DIY cleaners may be trending, they haven’t taken over just yet—72% of shoppers stick to store-bought products, while 19% use a mix of store-bought and homemade. 9% of shoppers do make their own cleaning solutions, though!
Sweeping Up Deals: Where & How Shoppers Are Stocking Up in 2025
When it’s time to restock their cleaning supplies, shoppers turn to their tried-and-true retailers, with Walmart being the number one pick at 29%. 28% pick up their essentials at the grocery store, 11% stock up at club stores, and 7% score their deals at dollar stores.
And what’s their budget for keeping things fresh? The majority (61%) spend under $20 a month on cleaning supplies, followed by 26% who spend between $21-$50.
